Description

The Maldives are located southwest of Sri Lanka, on the equator. There are 1,190 coral islands, forming an archipelago of 26 major atolls, 202 islands are inhabited, 100 are exclusive luxury island resorts. Many of these islands offer a serene paradise, making it a perfect destination for a honeymoon.

This part of the world is simply paradise. The Maldives is a desert-island dream where tiny islands are scattered like jewels across the ocean, each surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and diamond white sands. The perfect honeymoon and diving location, you’ll find resorts that exude romance and have a choice of luxurious villas, from retreats with a private stretch of beach to over-water hideaways with their own private infinity pool.

Turquoise lagoons, white sandy beaches and over-water villas are dotted throughout the dreamlike honeymoon destination, known as the Maldives. Island resorts offer honeymooners total relaxation and privacy. The Maldives is one of the most romantic locations in the world.

Choose an over-water villa, Beach villa or romantic honeymoon suite … the choice really is yours.

A range of luxury resorts dotted around the Maldives offer anything from Bed & Breakfast to A lá Carte all inclusive, the choice is yours. Food and Drinks are often charged in dollars; meaning half/full board and all-inclusive sometimes work out cheaper.

The final thing to remember is tourists are not allowed to bring alcohol into The Maldives, it is confiscated on arrival and is returned to passengers when they depart.

What is the currency in the Maldives?

Maldivian rufiyaa, although US dollars are most commonly used on resort islands.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?

The Maldives have a tropical climate, so the temperatures vary little throughout the year, you should expect an average of 25-30 degrees Celsius. May – July and September – November have a higher rainfall with some cloud, but there will still be plenty of sunshine and rain doesn’t tend to last for long. December to April is the dry season in the Maldives.

 TENTATIVE ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival at Gili Lankanfushi

You will be met at the airport and taken by private speedboat to Gili Lankanfushi, only 20 minutes from Malé International Airport. Set on the tropical island on Lankanfushi in the Malé Atoll, this is a luxurious and intimate coral island in the heart of the Maldives.

Stay in the Crusoe Residence as this offers optimum privacy as it is a standalone villa and is not connected to the island by a jetty. Only accessible by private rowing boat or boat shuttle, your only neighbour is the Indian Ocean.

Day 2: Maldives

Enjoy a leisurely lie in this morning and have breakfast in the main restaurant where a combination of dishes are on offer that allows East to meet West in culinary fusion. If you feel like it, have a private, secluded breakfast around one of the resort’s beaches or in your own villa.

Spend the morning by the pool and in the afternoon, enjoy a dhoni cruise to a deserted sandbar for a picnic and a snorkel around the reefs.

Enjoy fresh fruit sundowners with live music at the Over Water Bar before dinner at one of the many restaurants dotted around the resort later this evening.

Day 3: Diving and Dolphin Cruise

Discover the thriving underwater reef life with a dive this morning (we recommend reserving this before you arrive). Relax back at the resort with a Shoreline lunch served at the Poolside or Over Water Bar.

This afternoon head out on a dolphin cruise while the sun is setting in the horizon. Watch the dolphins start jumping from the sea in synchronized acrobatic form.

Sample the chef’s Maldivian Fusion Gourmet Menu in the main restaurant this evening and relax watching a movie in the resort cinema.

Day 4: Watersports and Spa

Today try out some of the water sports that are on offer – water skiing, kayaking or tubing, followed by a relaxing afternoon of treatments at the Meera Spa. Have a massage, or perhaps a luxury facial before dropping by at the Spa boutique which sells an exclusive selection of organic products.

This evening have dinner in the Underground Wine Cave with the Chef’s culinary creations and specially paired wines by the Sommelier. Here, you enter through a doorway and descend a flight of glass stairs to a chilled, cavernous cellar. Wander through the endless rows of wine and stimulate your palate with unexpected wine and food pairings. While you’re there, sample some handmade chocolate as well as artisan cheese and a selection of cold cuts from the deli room.
