TENTATIVE ITINERARY 7 NIGHTS/8 DAYS
DAY 1: Transfer to Praslin and explore Praslin
You will fly into Mahe Airport. From here, you can take a short flight or hop on a ferry to get to Praslin, the first island on your itinerary of Seychelles. Praslin boasts of some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world, so make sure you put it on your itinerary.
Once you arrive in Praslin, check into your hotel. We chose Hotel Le Duc de Praslin because of its proximity to the iconic Cote d’Or Beach and really enjoyed our stay. The boutique hotel has a laid-back and casual vibe and boasts of some of the most popular restaurants and bars on the entire island. You can read a detailed review of Hotel Le Duc de Praslin in our article on choosing accommodation in Seychelles. If you want to stay at a more luxurious property in Praslin, then look up Raffles Praslin.
DAY 2: Take a day trip to La Digue
The sylvan island of La Digue is just a short ferry ride away from Praslin. Have a relaxed breakfast and head out to the jetty to board the ferry. Once you’re in La Digue, rent a bicycle from Tati’s Bicycle Rental close to the jetty and explore the island’s bucolic by lanes and beaches. We suggest heading to the Northern side of the island and exploring beaches such as Anse Severe on your bikes if you want a gentle bike ride.
DAY 3 Visit Fond Ferdinand and transfer to Mahe
It’s time to hop onto yet another island with your luggage in tow. But not before a pitstop at Fond Ferdinand’s nature trail. The infamous Coco de Mer is rare and precious. You can see it in its natural habitat and learn more about it at Fond Ferdinand. Don’t miss this opportunity as Coco de Mer is native to the Seychelles archipelago and can only be found in Seychelles. You can take a short walk in the plantation or hike all the way to the top for a gorgeous panoramic view. This takes about 3 hours.
Once you’re exhausted head back to your car. You will reach Praslin’s jetty within minutes. Take the ferry back to Mahe. Once you are in Mahe, check into your hotel. There is a range of hotels to suit both mid-range and luxury travellers in Mahe
DAY 4: Relax in Mahe and indulge in water sports
All day trips and plantation visits are bound to leave you exhausted. Spend a relaxed day walking by the beach, snorkelling, or diving in Seychelles’ gorgeous waters. Most hotels can arrange water sports for guests. Spend the evening lazing around the pool as you sip on cocktails. If you really want to unwind, get a rejuvenating massage.
DAY 5: Go on a long hike and explore Victoria
Brace yourself for an early wake up call. Day 5 is reserved for a quick breakfast followed by a long and scenic hike. There are several nature trails in Mahe and you can choose one based on your fitness level. We chose the challenging Copolia Trail. On a sunny day, the hike to the top is strenuous and rewarding in equal measures. You might sweat bucketloads on the way up but fret not – stunning panoramas await. Take your time to absorb the gorgeous view of tiny islands, ringed by cerulean waters. Count the shades of blue as you gather your breath for the hike back to the starting point.
Spend your afternoon exploring Victoria, the capital city of Seychelles – walk by colourful houses, pick up conversations with locals, buy tidbits from tiny shops crammed with wares, or just observe locals go about their lives as you sample a creole curry or two at a local restaurant. Spend a relaxed evening and make sure you opt for a romantic dinner overlooking the Indian Ocean.
DAYS 6 & 7 Transfer to Silhouette Island and enjoy island life
Seychelles is ideal for honeymoons and romantic getaways. Spend the last two days of your holiday in Seychelles in a luxurious oasis. If you’re celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and want something supremely special, then look up the private island resorts such as North Island Luxury Lodge or Six Senses Zil Payson.
But if you want a popular yet luxurious stay, then Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa is ideal. We chose it because it has won several awards for being the best island hideaway in the Indian Ocean. You can read details about our stay at Hilton Labriz in our article on where to stay in Seychelles. Irrespective of where you choose to stay, spend days 6 & 7 biking around tiny islands, snorkelling and diving in crystal clear waters, sailing in the Indian Ocean on a sunset cruise, and devouring flavourful creole meals. This romantic island utopia will leave you sun-kissed and blissed out
Day 8 Transfer to Mahe and flight back home
I know we all hate it when holidays end but end they must. It’s time to take the ferry back to Mahe and hop on the flight back home. If you have some time to while away before your flight just take a cab to Eden Island – the manmade island is home to a host of great eateries and cafés. Chatterbox offers a range of smoothies and coffees in a hip setting. For a scrumptious sea facing meal, try Bravo. The open-air restaurant offers some delicious salads and grilled meats.
