DAY 1: NAIROBI TRANSFER TO SAMBURU BY FLIGHT

Depart from Nairobi Wilson Airport for an 8AM or 10AM flight to Samburu National Reserve. Be met at the airstrip by camp’s guide and be transferred to the camp with a game drive en route. After lunch there will be an afternoon game drive.

DAY 2 & 3: SAMBURU MONRING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES

These 2 full days have morning and afternoon game drives. The day shall be spent with game viewing drives / relaxing interludes at the Samburu game reserve. Game viewing drives in this dry and scenic game reserve are concentrated along the banks of the Ewaso nyiro river.

This is where most wildlife is found including Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Lion, Cheetah, Buffalo, Oryx and other animal species may be seen.

Optional activities: Walking safaris, Samburu village visit and birding adventures

DAY 4: SAMBURU TRANSFER TO MAASAI MARA BY FLIGHT

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for scheduled mid-morning flight to Maasai Mara. Be met by camp’s guide and transferred to the camp.  After lunch, embark to an afternoon and evening game drive through the park in search of the Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo and other members of the Big five plus other animals.

Meet the camp hosts and have a briefing before settling into the lodge and freshening up before lunch. Afterwards, relax and absorb the surroundings before setting off on an afternoon game drive in the conservancy till sunset. You may come across giraffe nibbling on the highest leaves or elephant stripping bark from the tastiest trees. Return to camp at dusk for hot showers, then an aperitif by the fireside with hosts and other guests before settling down for dinner.

DAY 5 & 6: MAASAI MARA MORNING AND AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES

These 2 full days have morning and afternoon game drives.

Start the day with a 4×4 fully-equipped to cross the Mara plains in search of game. At 1800 metres above sea level it can get cold before the sun rises fully, so we provide blankets and hot water bottles to keep you warm. The Maasai Mara national Reserve which is famously known due to the great wildebeest migration taking place annually between the months of July and October. Zebra’s, impala, topi, giraffe, Thomson’s gazelle, leopards, lions,

hyenas, cheetah, jackal and bat-eared foxes are regularly seen. Black rhino is a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance if you are lucky. Hippos are abundant in the Mara River as are very large Nile crocodiles, who lay in wait for a meal as the wildebeest cross on their annual quest to find new pastures.

1300 HOURS Proceed for lunch at the hotel

1430 HOURS By midday it can become very hot indeed and sunblock lotion and hats are advised. Lunch is served under the shade of an Acacia tree or overlooking the snorting hippos which wallow in the Mara River.

Afternoon tea is followed by game driving in

another area of the conservancy where you may  see jackals roaming, warthog bathing or impala jousting. As the afternoon ends and the temperature cools, the shadows lengthen and the Bush changes once more.

1630 HOURS Evening sightings of rhino are not uncommon on the way back to camp. Explore the Conservancy, as the cooling temperature brings out the predators. Lion-kills are often fought over by packs of hyenas, jackals and other scavengers. Enjoy the evening game drive and take as many photos as possible. You may finish the day watching the fascinating interactions of one of our lion prides with lionesses lying about, cubs playing and the males emitting thunderous roars.

Optional activities: Walking safaris, balloon ride, Maasai Village visit and night game drives.

DAY 7: MARA TRANSFER TO NAIROBI BY FLIGHT

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip, depart by a mi-morning flight to Wilson Airport arriving Nairobi by 1215hrs. Have lunch then be dropped at your hotel or airport.
